Lonesome
03:18
|
|||
What does it take to be lonesome?
Nothing at all.
My thoughts are wicked and rotten
My goat don’t wanna be gotten.
and I had my fill of the whippoorwill
when he broke into song I shot him.
Leave me alone. Get out of here.
What does it take to be lonesome?
Nothin at all.
Well the train is loaded and leavin.
Lord only knows I don’t need it
and I snub my nose when the
whistle blows but it’s never enough
to get even. Get out of here.
Leave me alone.
The moon can do what he pleases.
He can cry so much that he sneezes
and if a falling stars falls in my
yard, I’ll pick up the pieces.
Get out of here.
What does it take to be lonesome?
Nothin at all.

That Old Black Hole
03:21
|
|||
I put on my clothes like a body-
guard. I put the dogs on
patrol I my own back yard. I don’t
wanna fight but I’m constantly
ready and don’t rock the boat
but it’s always unstead. There’s
an elephant in my head and I
tiptoe around it. There are egg-
shells on the floor therefore I
never touch the groung. It’s like
that old black hole. No matter how
you try, you set out each day
never to arrive.
I’ve got my eyes on the prize but
T looks just like a mystery and
It all goes by on the lonesome
trail to victory. I’m drawin the
blinds, I got my own four walls.
Man, the show really starts once
the curtain falls. Take this thors
from my side. Fixthis chip on my
shoulder. Time is racing with the
clock and I ain’t getting any older.
It’s like that old black hole. No
matter how you try. You set out
each day, never to arrive.
I put on my finest thread. I wrap
up my body tight. With the sun in
my eyes I step into the night. Like
the mystery in the dark, it’s just
another kind of light. I don’t expect
you to believe me but everything is
alright. I don’t make rules for a
living. I don’t do tricks for a dime.
I was born on a good day. Deaf, dumb
and blind. Who am I to tell the truth?
I know how to say it but I know that
I can show you.
I tie my boots up tight and I head
straight for bed. There’s a pistol
crystal underneath my pillow.
There’s a tender heart inside that
ugly armadillo, “these are tears
of joy” cried the weeping willow.
There’s a spirit in the air and
there ain’t no way around it . I
was not prepared to lose it on the moment that I found it.
It’s like that old black hole.
No matter how you try, you set
out each day, never to arrive.

These Days
02:47
|
|||
I don’t wanna waste time.
I don’t wanna stay here,
deciding whether we should
stay or leave baby.
Why you wanna go now?
I don’t wanna go now,
even though our friends are
gone and the lights are on.
You keep sayin nobody cared
if I’m here, except my well
baby that’s enough.
I don’t wanna let go. People
they get so old. I hate when
people say “those were the days.”
Well what are these then?
I really shoulda stayed home. So
many people I don’t really know
anymore, and I get nothing to
say but “I don’t know.” I just get
so bored.
over and over I get
impatient and angery when I feel
like I’ve gone soft. It’s such a
drag, I just get dumber and dumber.
I can’t talk, I can’t talk.
La da da da da da .
I don’t wanna let go. People they get so old.
I hate when people say “those were the days.”
but what do I know?
Why you wanna go now?
I don’t wanna go now. even though my
friends are gone and the music’s off.
You keep sayin nobody cares is I’m
here except me well baby that’s enough.

How Long Must I Wait
03:40
|
|||
I walk with you everywhere I go
but it don’t seem like you know.
I sang your praise like an old
songbird but I don’t suppose
you heard.
I climbed my voice to the top of
my lungs but I’m standin on
the tip of my tongue. And all
I see only looks the same, the
picture is the frame.
Oh soul of mine, look out and
see, my time that is to be.
I fight for you. My love is war.
The battle of baltimore. I took
you back then, I’ll take you down
the road. You’re with me on
my own.
Oh soul of mine, look out and see,
My time is that to be.

Get Away
04:00
|
|||
I’m aware of the danger.
I think its ok. I was never
that young. I was born old
and gray. Alone and in shambles,
it alright it’s ok. The storm cloud
has broke, the haze burned away.
I was 23 miles from the chesapeake
bay. I’d worn through my shoes.
always walkin away. Seems like
all of my troubles roll and tumble
this way. The bottle has broken,
the ghost has escaped.
Oh no. I can’t walk around with
my feet off the ground. And when
they hit, although we are strangers,
Run away, run away, run away, I have.
I didn’t talk much to strangers. I’d
bled my friends dry. Hard, hard livin
yet I was hardly alive. But I kept on
rollin and now I know why. The storm
clouds have broken a hole in the sky.
Well get away from the shelter. Get
away from the storm. Get away from
the mountains. Get away from the shore.
Get away from the hang-ups that destroy the minds. Get away from the darkness,
Get away from the light.
Oh no. I can’t walk around with my
feet off the ground. and when they hit,
although we are strangers, run away,
run away, I have.

Do The Trick
04:32
|
|||
My heart, it ain’t runnin right.
Won’t you give it a kick.
Will you be my handy man?
Will you do the trick?
I count the days as they pass me by.
My tock is a nervous tick.
Won’t you free my hands of time?
Won’t you do the trick?
All my marbles gone down the drain.
You could say I’m a lunatic.
Won’t you set my mind at ease?
Will you do the trick?
I burnt the candle on every side.
Long since run out of wick.
Will you be my flame tonight?
Will you do the trick?
I been split down the middle.
Call a doctor in quick!
I’m in need of a better half.
Will you do the trick?
I just can’t find my way all alone.
Man this fog is so thick.
Won’t you shine your light for me?
Will you do the trick?
I’ve thrown everything at the wall,
but nothing will stick.
Won’t you hang around a while?
Won’t you do the trick?
I could build you a home on high,
I could lay each and every brick.
Will you be there by my side?
Will you do the trick?

Vampire
04:26
|
|||
There’s a darkness around you
I can’t explain. And the heart
break surrounds you like the rain.
You destroy all that’s good
here at your will. There’s a
part of me though that loves you
still.
You’re a vampire baby. No reflection
at all. You never think what you
do really hurts. You’re always givin
me maybe, if I get something at
all. Leavin me in the dark oh
what a nerve.
There’s a black mask in shadows,
behind your veil. You’re as tempting
and savage as marcellus shale. If you knew what you wanted I’d
give mine but I’m no grave
robber baby. I can’t know your mind.
You’re a vampire baby….
Somehow, some way. some day,
somehow, we will get along dear.
Dawn is always dark.
Somehow, someway, someday, somehow,
we will get along.
You’re a vampire baby. No reflection at all.
You never think what you do really
hurts. You’re always giving me
maybe, If I get something at all.
Leaving me in the dark oh what a nerve You’re a vampire baby.

Heavy Light
03:40
|
|||
I’m sleepin under carpet,
in a closet full of bone.
In a body of boiling water.
I’m scratchin on the surface,
I’m as blind as I can be. I am
a trace. I am a gesture,
in the heavy, heavy light.
They say that I’m a river.
They say that I am one.
Will I be the last to know?
So beyond the lines of mercy,
I’m waitin for my turn.
Someday my prince will come.
In the heavy heavy light.
The sea is within me and that’s
cause I said so. and that’s cause
I said so. In love with the
word. Am I sound? Am I right?
The sea is within me and that’s cause I said so…
I wish I gave only love or could
feel it when I did.

Big Girl
05:03
|
|||
She’s a big girl now and she
can’t be your baby anymore.
Sha-na-na-na-na she’s a
big girl now.
She had such wild expectations
when she was very young but
you couldn’t stand to see her
happy or havin fun but
she’s a big girl now and she
can’t be your baby anymore.
You had her doin all the dishes
had her moppin the floor. You
had your dinner on the table
when you walked through the
door but she’s a big girl now and
she can’t be your baby anymore.
She could have been anything that
she wanted. She could of had
anything at all. but you broke her
down man, you nearly undid her,
you made her feel so very small.
You made her cal you daddy,
changed the color of her hair. and
when you stayed out very late you
had her waitin on the stairs but
she’s a big girl now… and she can’t
be your baby any more. She’s comin
with me.

Over Here, Over There
04:01
|
|||
I tip my cap to the heavy heavy rain.
I wave hello when I see a snake go by.
I ain’t a fighter, never been in a fight.
Can’t get no answers from the other guy.
So let’s just clear the air.
I am over here. I’m over there.
I am the youngest of a family of spiders.
I got a web of my very own weaving.
I know where I belong and nothin’s
gonna beat it. So I ain’t goin home
just because I’m leavin. So let’s just
clear the air. I am over here, I’m over
there.
Well the last time that I got lonely,
I didn’t even know your name. Once and again for the first time. Yeah it’s old,
but it ain’t the same. I remember
everything you told me. I remember
you walkin away. I felt it on the
moment that I met you and that
felt like a place that I should stay.
So let’s just clear the air
I am over here, I’m over there.
We were around long, before my birth-
day. We’ll be around to put flowers
on my grave. Me and you got a
history of history. Me and you
two continuous waves.
So let us fill the air.
We are over here.
We’re over there.

Warrior Man
04:57
|
|||
Well I am the ancient warrior man
and I hail from the ancient
warrior clan.
I invented the computer man.
hubcaps and soda cans.
Well the holy ghost, he owes me
everything he knows and everything
he don’t you understand? Well I think you can.
Well the world at most is a homemade
crypt I made from my rib in a lightning trance, in a fevered dance.
(chorus)
The roads of gold. I carved a hieroglyphs
into the the dover cliffs. I’m a self-made
man with my own bare hands.
They haunted ghost. They begged for the
man with the hammer in his hand to
ring the bell and send him back to hell.
Holy roller, do you know her?
I invented the Krav Maga.
Speak a Vandalic Yanomamo patois.
holy roller, do you know her at all?
holy roller, do you know her?
commenced another ride into town
does she have another jockey at home?
holy roller, do you know her?
Well I am the ancient warrior man
and I hail from the ancient warrior clan.
I invented the computer man.
hubcaps and soda cans.

Turning The Century
03:50
|
|||
I been singing for so long.
I go from door to door
but it ain’t the song I’m singin for.
I’ve painted every town. The colors
I ignore. No it ain’t the change I’m
lookin for.
Mouth of the river, spit out the sea.
Shake the heads of time.
Turnin the century.
I been fishin off the dock.
Every beach and every brook.
And it felt the same without the hook.
I been humbled by the maker.
I been given all I gave and I
don’t expect, no I ain’t askin
to be saved.
I found the combination, I’ve got the
key. Standin at the door, turnin the
century. Mouth of the river, spit out
the sea. Stand for something more.
Uncommon courtesy.
